Matteo graduated with honours in Pharmacy from the University of Cagliari in July 2017 after the discussion of an experimental thesis entitled “Preparation and characterization of DMPC-glycerosomes for the topical delivery of Diclofenac”.
After graduation, between 2018 and 2019 he worked as a pharmaceutical representative for important Italian industries such as A. Menarini and Italfarmaco spa. During the summer of the same year, he became a licensed pharmacist and worked as pharmacist as well.
In October 2019, he won a scholarship and worked on the project “Tackling biological barriers to antigen delivery by nanotechnological vaccines (NanoTechVax)” under the supervision of Professor Anna Maria Fadda until September 2020.
At the end of the same month, he joined the PhD program in Life, Environmental and Drug Sciences (Drug Sciences Curriculum) offered by the University of Cagliari (UniCa). Right before the end of his first year as PhD student, he was also accepted in the PhD program “Investigación y Evaluación de Medicamentos. Aplicación de la Tecnología Farmacéutica al Desarrollo de Terapias Avanzadas” at the university of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), where he spent 9 months in order to learn and improve his knowledge regarding pulmonary administration.
Currently, under the guidance of both Professor Maria Manconi (UniCa) and Professor José Luis Pedraz (UPV/EHU), he is studying and developing drug delivery systems to allow antigen delivery though non-invasive administration routes such us transdermal, nasal and pulmonary.
