PhD. Dr. Per Gerde, Associate Professor (b 1953). Chief Scientific Officer and founder of Inhalation Sciences AB (ISAB) (www.inhalation.se) , Co-founder of Ziccum AB (www.ziccum.com). At ISAB Dr. Gerde has been CSO since its foundation in 2005. Meanwhile, since 1997 he has held a part time position as Scientist at the Institute of Environmental Medicine, Karolinska Institutet (KI) in Stockholm. Since retirement from KI in 2021 he retained an association agreement for teaching and supervising PhD students. The main effort of Dr Gerde at ISAB is the design and implementation of the PreciseInhale exposure platform for benchtop exposures of in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo models. Major research interest is the fate of particle-associated inhalants after deposition in the lungs, including in vitro - in vivo correlation of data (IVIVC); therapeutic substances as well as air pollutants. Gerde obtained his PhD in chemical engineering in 1987 at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm. He was a post-doc at the Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute (LRRI), Albuquerque New Mexico, 1989-1991, then a visiting scientist at LRRI until 1999. He is the main inventor of six patent families and has around 60 peer-reviewed publications.
