Paper: Inhaler Design Considerations for Humidity Exposed Spray Dried Vaccine Powders

Download Paper

Varsha Singh is a Postdoctoral Fellow at McMaster University in Canada. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, focused on thermally stable vaccine powders for pulmonary delivery. Her work involved particle engineering to enhance the dispersibility of dry powder formulations. In addition, her work focused on exploring the previously unresolved causes of potency losses in spray-dried vaccines. Her latest work demonstrates an inhalable vaccine platform as a proof-of-principle for influenza virus vaccines that remained stable at high temperatures for extended time periods.

Her expertise includes particle engineering, pharmaceutical formulation development, spray drying APIs and biologics, and bioreactor engineering, coupled with proficiency in mammalian cell culture and excellent analytical skills. Before her doctoral studies, Varsha contributed to biochemical engineering projects as a Research Fellow at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, where she spearheaded projects spanning from ethanol fermentation to cell sheet engineering for developing artificial human cornea. She has a comprehensive educational background including an M.Tech in Industrial Biotechnology and a B.Tech in Biotechnology from India. She thrives in multidisciplinary research environments and continues to shape her journey as a scientist driven by her passion for research.
