Koura

Paper: Assessing the adaptability of bench scale dry powder technology for filling of an pMDI can with a high fill weight API

Sheryl Johnson is Technical Support Manager at Koura, Orbia fluorinated solutions, a leading supplier to the industry of medical propellant solutions. Sheryl began her studies at University of Hull where she obtained a Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry. Since then, Sheryl has obtained over 15 years’ experience in research and development, the latter eleven at Koura, previously Mexichem Fluor. In her early career she was key in the development of catalyst screening techniques and processes for gas phase fluorination reactions and became a Chartered Chemist in 2014. Her work in downstream processes enabled customers to quantify the environmental benefits of fluorspar in cement kilns at lab and manufacturing scale. More recently she was responsible for the administration of Koura’s P152a toxicology programme, including their FIH clinical trial in 2020 and the implementation of internal P152a formulation programmes. Currently she is leading a team of R&D scientists studying the purification, stability, material compatibility and formulation performance of Koura’s medical propellants, mainly P152a, on behalf of internal and external stakeholders.
