Rodrigo Amorim

Rodrigo Amorim

Lonza

Rodrigo Amorim is a Product Development Engineer in the Respiratory Delivery group at Lonza, Bend. His current role involves leading product development initiatives for inhalation therapies, involving an array of technologies, from spray drying to micronization, for both small molecules and biologics. Prior to this, he spearheaded the launch of the R&D department at Micro-Sphere, in Switzerland, having led the company’s first DPI formulation and process development programs, scientific communication across Europe, partnerships and investment in new equipment.
Rodrigo holds a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (University of Lisbon), which culminated in a scholarship at Hovione where he was first introduced to inhaled delivery. His work there resulted in a patent on crystalline pharmaceutical compositions for inhalation manufacture by co-milling.
Rodrigo’s research interests lie in utilizing data analysis and interdisciplinary knowledge to advance new drug delivery modalities, including inhaled biotherapeutics, nose-to-brain, and controlled release technologies.
