Paulo Roque Lino

Paulo Roque Lino

Hovione

Dr. Paulo Roque Lino is a Senior Scientist in Inhalation and Advanced Drug Delivery at Hovione, with a background that bridges pharmaceutical technology, biopharmaceutics, and nanomedicine. He earned his PhD from the University of Lisbon, focusing on the stabilization and nanoformulation of therapeutic enzymes for metabolic disorders. His postdoctoral research at LMU Munich further explored the in vivo performance of complex biologic delivery systems.
Dr. Lino's expertise spans formulation and process development for biologics, small molecules, and nucleic acids, including spray drying, spray freeze-drying, lipid-based nanoparticles (LNPs), and polymeric systems. At Hovione, he has been involved in the development of advanced drug products across inhalation, oral, and parenteral routes, with a strong emphasis on translational science, particle engineering, and biologics stabilization.
He has contributed to internal innovation in biologics formulation and nasal/inhalation delivery platforms, and actively collaborates with academic partners through thesis supervision and joint research. Dr. Lino has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and regularly shares his insights through webinars and invited talks.
His current interests lie in enabling technologies for the delivery of fragile biomolecules and expanding the formulation toolbox for high-performance drug products.
