Paper: Inhaled Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus-derived postbiotics as novel strategy to tackle Pseudomonas aeruginosa lung infection in cystic fibrosis

Download Paper

Marta Bianchi is currently a second-year Ph.D. student in Clinical and Translational Science at the University of Pisa, Italy. She holds a single-cycle master's degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology from the University of Pisa. After completing her degree, she gained eight months of experience working as a pharmacist. She was then selected for a six-month research-training program at Archa Laboratories in Pisa, focused on microbiological research and development. Her research field is Pharmaceutical Microbiology, with a primary emphasis on developing innovative strategies to tackle multi-drug-resistant microorganisms. During her first year of the Ph.D. program, Marta conducted in-vitro investigations into the potential use of probiotics and post-biotics as treatments or preventatives for infections, particularly focusing on Pseudomonas aeruginosa pulmonary infections in patients with cystic fibrosis. Furthermore, she collaborates with the Department of Pharmacy at Pisa University with the overarching goal of identifying new formulations and delivery strategies to maintain probiotic viability and enhance their therapeutic effects, specifically for delivering probiotics and post-biotics to the lungs.
