Karin Somby is currently a PhD student registered at Kings College London and working at Novartis Pharma AG in Switzerland. In 2017-2021, Karin studied a MSci in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Queen Mary University of London, where she ranked first and was awarded four prizes for outstanding academic achievements. Her undergarduate research projects both focused on the synthesis and characterisation of nanoparticles for drug delivery, as well as statistical analysis evaluating the reproducibility of the synthetic methodology. Karin is currently working on her PhD Innovation project "Mechanistic understanding and absorption prediction for inhaled compounds via in vitro and in silico tools" with Dr. Ivana Tomic and Dr. Martin Hingle as her industrial supervisors and Prof. Ben Forbes as her academic supervisor. She is currently working on the optimisation of a Transwell dissolution method for orally inhaled drug products with low solubility, with a focus on the bio relevance of the in vitro set-up.
