Download Paper

Julia Berends is a PhD student at the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences (2016), a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (2018), and a master’s degree in Pharmacy (2021). In November 2021, she started her PhD research in the group of Professor Erik Frijlink, under the supervision of dr. Floris Grasmeijer and Paul Hagedoorn. Her research focuses on high-dose dry powder formulations for inhalation. Current projects include 1) particle properties affecting the performance of dry powder formulations, 2) an in vitro – in vivo correlation study, and 3) physiologically based pharmacokinetic modelling of an orally inhaled drug product. Since January 2023, Julia is also a committee member of the New Researcher Network of the DDL.
