Paper: Solid state degradation of proteins in complex drug product formulation matrices

Download Paper

Gerard Masdeu is a researcher with advanced knowledge in protein science and bio-analytical chemistry. With a MSc in Biotechnology, Gerard obtained his PhD in enzyme characterisation and catalysis at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 2017. He then moved to Gothenburg for his postdoc in biophysical chemistry at Chalmers University of Technology.

Throughout his career, he has worked in protein purification and immobilisation, reaction engineering, mathematical modelling, and material science. Besides, he is highly skilled in UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopy, and chromatography. He joined AstraZeneca in 2022, and during his time in Inhalation Product Development (IPD), he has been contributing to several GMP/GLS analytical activities in several projects, through which he consolidated and expanded his analytical capabilities.
Gerard’s profound analytical competencies together with his passion and commitment made a significant impact globally and cross-functionally in several inhaled biologic projects. His fundamental contributions will enable IPD to continue to build on further the analytical expertise in large molecule characterisation.
