Chiara Schianchi

Chiara Schianchi

University of Parma

Chiara Schianchi is a PhD student at the Department of Food and Drug Sciences at the University of Parma. She has gained experience in the field of inhaled pharmaceutical formulations, with her research focusing on the development and characterization of dry powders for inhalation—specifically regarding their physicochemical properties.
Throughout her work, she has utilized various technologies and instruments for powder preparation and characterization—including spray dryers, Turbula mixers, and micronizers—thereby acquiring expertise in formulating and optimizing products intended for inhalation delivery.
Currently, her scientific interests focus on developing probiotic-based formulations for innovative pulmonary applications.
She also conducts rheological characterization of respiratory mucus, using rheometry techniques to investigate its viscoelastic properties. In particular, she studies mucus viscosity and elasticity to better understand the interactions between inhaled formulations and the biological environment of the airways, thereby contributing to the development of innovative strategies for treating pulmonary diseases.
