Paper: In-Vitro modelling of the lungs response to nanoparticulates

Altin Kocinaj is a PhD student within the Centre for Topical Drug Delivery and Toxicology at the University of Hertfordshire, supervised by Dr. Laura Urbano and Professor Darragh Murnane. Prior to the commencement of the PhD he obtained a BSc in Pharmacology at the University of Southampton and a MSc in Drug Development sciences at King’s College London. He then undertook a Research Assistant position with Dr. Richard Parsons investigating neurodegeneration. As part of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Aerosol Science Altin has developed an understanding for multiple fields across aerosol science, with the intent for application within his PhD. To date, he has begun research into effective standalone in-vitro modelling of the lung’s interaction and toxicity with inhaled nanoparticles with the use of high content imaging/analysis and Python coding, with the purpose of making strides following the principles of the 3R’s.
