Paper: QbD Assisted Development of Inhalable Spray-Dried Procubosomal Powder Intended to be used for Lung Delivery

Download Paper

Akash Deep is a doctoral (Ph.D) student in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Punjabi University, Patiala (Punjab), India. Under the guidance of Dr. Vikas Rana, his Ph.D. research revolves around the development and evaluation of an inhalable nanostructured-based drug delivery system for poorly water-soluble drugs. Before joining Punjabi University, he completed his post-graduation, i.e., M. Pharmacy in Pharmaceutical Sciences, from Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar (Punjab), India. His postgraduate research primarily focused on preparing liposomal DPI (dry powder inhaler) containing anti-tubercular drugs combination for the treatment of tuberculosis. Before that, he received a Bachelor's in Pharmacy in 2011 from Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar (Punjab), India, and cleared the GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) entrance exam for higher studies. In addition to his academic pursuits, he gained valuable teaching experience as an Assistant Professor, nurturing the growth of undergraduate students. He is particularly interested in the development and evaluation of nanostructured-based DPI's for the effective treatment of pulmonary diseases. His other major research interest is to study the effects of different formulations, process, and cyclone design parameters on the aerosolization properties of the inhalable powder prepared using the spray-drying technique. The University Grant Commission (UGC) of India supports his PhD research work with fellowships as a junior (JRF) and senior research fellow (SRF). He has presented his research work at various national and international conferences on Novel Drug Delivery and has published five research papers and one review paper in reputed journal. For further information, he can be contacted at akashdeep.akashdeep.singh2@gmail.com.
