Summary

The O1 device is a unit dose dry powder inhaler platform that deagglomerates powder using a mobile cruciform ball enclosed in a cyclone chamber. It targets high lung doses through efficient delivery of large formulation nominal doses across a range of simulated patient respiratory profiles. High-speed imaging and computational fluid dynamics simulations show that the ball improves particle recovery and enhances deagglomeration by a chaotic flow. Test results show a strong performance (high fine particle dose) over a wide range of formulation fill weights.
