She holds a Master’s degree in Biotechnology and a PhD in Biomaterials. She is a senior researcher in pharmaceutical technology at the University of Pisa and teaches Quality Assurance for Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms as well as Formulation and Legislation of Health and Cosmetic Products.
Her research focuses on the design, development, and characterization of advanced drug delivery systems, with a particular emphasis on pulmonary formulations. She studies nanocarriers and other delivery strategies for the targeted transport of biologics and natural extracts, aiming to improve stability, bioavailability, and controlled release of active compounds. In parallel, she develops biomedical devices for dermal applications and wound repair, combining bioactive materials to optimize mechanical and functional properties.
She has authored 25 peer-reviewed publications, presented her work at more than 30 national and international conferences, and is a co-inventor of a patent, demonstrating the innovative potential of her research.
Her expertise spans nanotechnology, biomaterials, formulation science, and regulatory aspects of pharmaceutical, health, and cosmetic products, enabling her to bridge fundamental research with the development of advanced delivery systems.
