Paper: Assessment of pulmonary delivery of Plasminogen for ARDS local treatment
Download PaperLucia Vizzoni is a second-year PhD student at University of Siena in the Department of Life Sciences. She completed her master’s degree in Chemistry And Pharmaceutical Technologies at University of Pisa. Lucia works in a pharmaceutical technology laboratory at the University of Pisa. Her supervisors are Professor Zambito and Professor Piras.
The research topics she works on are multiple: Lucia started working on drug delivery during her master's thesis, in particular on the inhalation of plasminogen proposed in the form of the off-label administration of an eyedrop solution, for the treatment of ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome). Furthermore, it was possible to carry out in vitro evaluations thanks to the cell culture laboratory and the person in charge, Dr. Migone.
Another project she is working on involves finding a possible treatment for metastatic tumors. The goal is to identify new effective treatments for metastatic tumors, focusing on the development of nanoparticles coated with cancer cell membrane (camouflage) capable of specifically delivering anti-tumor compounds to the tumor tissue.
Lucia has authored her first publication “Biopharmaceutical Assessment of Mesh Aerosolised Plasminogen, a Step towards ARDS Treatment” in May 2023 on Pharmaceutics. She has contributed to national and international conferences, like 4th European Conference on Pharmaceutics in Marseille, 9th NANOTECH & NANOMATERIALS Research Conference in Rome and XXIII Symposium ADRITELF in Trieste. Her ORCID is: https://orcid.org/0009-0009-1045-005X .
