Joana Pinto da Silva is a PhD Student in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Algarve, where she is developing her research work as a member of the Drug Delivery Lab. She holds a PhD fellowship awarded by the FCT (Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology) in 2021. She holds a Masters in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Algarve, obtained in 2020.

Her work mainly focuses on dry powder development for an application as inhalable platform for immunisation against respiratory infections. In her research group, she and her colleagues explore different carriers and excipients for several applications in the pulmonary route, particularly locust bean gum.
The work that she developed has, so far, resulted in one poster communication as well as one provisional patent request. This is her second participation in the DDL Conference.

Currently, she is preforming experiments at the University of Navarra (Spain), in collaboration with the Nanomedicines and Vaccines research group.
