Dr Ronan MacLoughlin, PhD, MBS is currently Associate Director of R&D, Science and Emerging Technologies in Aerogen Limited, a vibrating mesh nebuliser company. Ronan has more than 20 years’ experience in Respiratory Drug Delivery with several nebuliser, and accessory product launches over that time. With more than 70 published papers, and 150+ conference abstracts, combined with several granted patents and patents pending in the field, Ronan has a broad range of experience across the home care and acute and critical care spaces. More recently his focus has been on aerosol-mediated delivery of several prophylactic and therapeutic candidates for COVID-19 and is lead inventor on Aerogen’s inhaled vaccine delivery systems, some of which are currently in Phase 3 clinical trials. His doctoral work focused on aerosol-mediated delivery of gene therapies for acute lung injuries, and his current research interests lie in delivery of regenerative medicines such as ATMPs. He currently holds the position of adjunct Associate Professor in Trinity College Dublin, and Senior Honorary lecturer in the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland.
