Dr Neil Forbes is a Senior Scientist at Phillips Medisize. His background is in the formulation of lipid-based systems and has experience formulating a range of molecules in the oral, pulmonary and nasal routes.
Neil got his undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Edinburgh, and a MSc in Biotechnology from Heriot-Watt University. He then transitioned to a PhD at the University of Strathclyde from 2016 - 2020, working on an oral vaccine for Clostridium difficile using liposome technology prepared by microfluidics. He has worked on a wide range of projects gaining experience in techniques such as high-pressure homogenisation, ethanol injection, microfluidics, spray drying and freeze drying.
Since 2021, Neil has been working in pharmaceutical development, initially formulating molecules for liquid nebulisation and dry powder inhalers. Neil then transitioned into nasal formulation, manufacturing small molecule suspensions for multi-dose devices and most recently, creating lipid-nanoparticles for the delivery of oligonucleotides via the nose.
