Dr. Matteo Puccetti, graduated in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology in Medical, Veterinary and Forensic Biotechnology Sciences at the University of Perugia, after a research activity at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research and Discipline of Pharmacology, University of Sydney, Australia, is now Research Fellow at the Department of Pharmaceutical Science,University of Perugia, Italy. His research activity is centered around the development of suitable delivery platforms for targeted delivery of non-antibiotic and repurposed anti-inflammatory compounds. His interest is to develop suitable formulations of biofarmaceutically active, microbially-derived compounds, referred to as postbiotics, for targeted delivery at the epithelial barrier. In this regard, he has contributed proof-of-concept demonstration for the use of tryptophan-derived microbial metabolites as well as the anti-inflammatory compound, anakinra, in preclinical models of cystic fibrosis, metabolic syndrome and check point inhibitor-induced immunopathology.
