Harro Höfliger

Karin Marek has been working since 2016 as the Team Leader of Pharmaceutical and Analytical Development at Harro Höfliger within Pharma Services. In this role, she is responsible for leading the laboratory’s development and validation of analytical methods, with a particular focus on inhalation products. She has significantly expanded Harro Höfliger’s laboratory capabilities, implementing advanced analytical determinations such as physical characterization of powders, In-vivo In-vitro Correlation techniques and development of suitable HPLC analytics for inhalation products. Additionally, she leads pharmaceutical development with focus on blending of inhalation powders, but also for nanoparticles. Her expertise includes devising innovative testing procedures to ensure product quality, stability, and regulatory compliance.

Prior to her current position, Karin gained valuable experience at Pfizer in Freiburg im Breisgau, working in analytical development. There, she contributed to developing, validating and transferring analytical methods for pharmaceutical products. After Pfizer, she worked at Salutas Pharma (a Sandoz subsidiary), where she held various roles in analytics, pharmaceutical development, and manufacturing science technology. Her responsibilities included equipment qualification, and in her role as MS&T Head of the side, she was jointly responsible for the validation and cleaning status of production.
Karin holds a degree as a Chemical Engineer from Aalen University of Applied Sciences. She possesses strong skills in development of instrumental analytics such as introduction of new technologies to the lab. With her extensive background in pharmaceutical research, development, and quality assurance, she has established herself as a point of contact for analytical and process-oriented contexts with the focus on dry powder inhalers.
