Joana Pinto da Silva

Joana Pinto da Silva

University of Algarve

Joana Pinto da Silva is a PhD candidate in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Algarve, Portugal, where she works on developing inhalable dry powder formulations for respiratory immunization. Under the supervision of Dr. Ana Grenha in the Drug Delivery Lab, she investigates pulmonary delivery platforms that target respiratory infections using various carriers and excipients.

She completed her MSc in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Algarve in 2020 and received a PhD fellowship from the Foundation for Science and Technology in Portugal in 2021. Her research aims to contribute to pulmonary drug delivery strategies for respiratory conditions.
Joana has shared her work through six oral presentations and fifteen posters and has filed one provisional patent application. Her research has been recognized with best poster awards at the Pulmonary Drug Delivery Workshop for the last two editions, and she received a best oral presentation award at the V International Congress in Health Science Research. She was recently awarded the DDL Career Development Grant to support the work she will be presenting at this conference.
She has been attending the DDL Conference for five consecutive years, demonstrating her ongoing interest in drug delivery research.
