Paper: 3D Airway Models for In Vitro Studies and Drug Delivery
Download Paper Download Presentation PDFAurélie Marches is a postdoctoral researcher at Malmö University (Sweden), in the Department of Biomedical Science and Biofilms Research Center for Biointerfaces. She is currently working on the Knowledge Foundation - funded project Biobarriers - Health, disorders and healing, where she focuses on developing advanced ex vivo models of buccal mucosa and lung tissue to investigate healthy and disordered biological barriers.
She obtained her Ph.D. in 2023 from Toulouse University (France), where her research focused on skin wound healing and the use of cold atmospheric plasma, combining expertise in cell biology, tissue engineering, and plasma physics. Her work led to the development of a novel standardized ex vivo human skin wound model. She also holds a Master’s degree in Biotechnology (2018), with a specialization in tissue engineering.
Her main research interests include 3D cell culture, epithelial biology, wound healing, and the development of physiologically relevant tissue models for biomedical applications. She has received research grants such as the endowment from Royal Physiographic Society of Lund (2024), the French Ministry of Research doctoral fellowship (2020) and the BQR grant for innovative model development (2021).
