Ângelo Araújo is a Senior Scientist and Project Manager at Hovione, involved in the design, development, and regulatory support of inhalation and drug delivery devices. Holding a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, an MSc in Clinical Engineering, and a BSc in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minho, with additional research training conducted in the Netherlands and Portugal, his work encompasses the full product development cycle, including CAD modeling, CAE/CFD simulation, manufacturing processes, and preparation of regulatory documentation such as Design History Files (DHFs). He also contributes to the company’s intellectual property strategy related to medical devices and provides technical mentoring within multidisciplinary teams.
He has over ten years of experience across the medical device, automotive, and biomedical research fields. At Bosch Car Multimedia, he focused on the mechanical design of precision sensor systems for automotive applications, including materials selection, finite element analysis, and coordination of design-to-manufacture workflows.
Earlier in his career, he was a researcher at the CT2M Centre, University of Minho, participating in the EU-funded NPMIMETIC project, which investigated biomimetic implants for intervertebral disc regeneration. His doctoral research addressed the experimental and numerical modeling of the mechanical behavior of intervertebral disc components.
