Paper: Assessment of Aerosol Drug Delivery to Simulated Adult and Paediatric Patients with Varying Lung Diseases during Mechanical Ventilation

Dr. Mac Giolla Eain graduated with a degree in Mechanical engineering from the University of Limerick, Ireland and completed his PhD studies at the Stokes Institute examining the thermal and hydrodynamic characteristics of microfluidic multiphase flows. He currently holds the position of senior aerosol scientist at Aerogen where his work focuses on developing novel devices and systems to deliver aerosols in the acute and critical care setting. His work on fugitive medical and patient derived medical aerosol emissions was central to the development of several critical care consensus statements around the safe use of aerosol therapy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Mac Giolla Eain has also worked in the areas of renewable technologies, material sciences, biotechnology, and bio-pharmacology. He has authored and co-authored over 50 peer reviewed journal and conference papers and presentations and has several patents granted and pending.
