Paper: Advances in in vitro endpoints for inhaled drug delivery safety assessment
Download Paper Download Presentation PDFI initially trained as a Pharmacist in 2005 and returned to the University of Nottingham in 2007 to study a PhD at the Doctoral Training Centre in Targeted Therapeutics funded by the EPSRC and AstraZeneca. My work focussed on developing and characterising human bronchial cell models of the lungs to evaluate drug transport mechanisms.
In 2012, I began my career as an academic at the University of Hertfordshire working my way up from Lecturer to Professor in 2023 and developing a research group focussing on the application of novel in vitro models and assessments in inhaled drug safety and efficacy.
In 2019, I co-founded ImmuONE after a successful Innovation to Commercialisation of University Research (ICURe) programme which allowed acceleration of our human in vitro immunocompetent lung models and services to market. My role as Chief Scientific Officer at ImmuONE now spans the scientific and commercial aspects of the company providing expertise in immune-competent in vitro models and assessments to support companies getting new inhaled products to market safely. Over the past 5 years ImmuONE has helped customers overcome challenges with inhaled and immune product safety providing new approach methodologies to the pharmaceutical, biotech, chemical and agrichemical industries.
