Josué Sznitman Biography
Josué Sznitman is a Swiss, French and Israeli national. Sznitman graduated from MIT with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering (2002), followed by a Dr. Sc. (2008) from the ETH Zurich. In 2008, Sznitman joined the University of Pennsylvania as a Postdoctoral Fellow and moved to Princeton University as a Lecturer and Research Associate, appointed by the Princeton Council of Science & Technology. He joined the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Technion in October 2010 as a tenure-track Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2016. As a researcher, he directs the Technion Biofluids Laboratory with a stronghold in the areas of respiratory phenomena and drug delivery to the lungs. Sznitman has published over 75 peer-reviewed articles and is a co-inventor on several patents. He is an associate editor for Clinical Biomechanics (Elsevier), a member of the Editorial Board of Biomicrofluidics (AIP) and the Journal of Biomechanics (Elsevier), and serves as an Academic Editor for the journal PLoS One. Among his accolades, Sznitman was awarded the Young Investigator Award (2015) by the International Society of Aerosols in Medicine (ISAM) for a researcher under 40 and most recently the 2018 Emerging Scientist Award in Drug Delivery to the Lungs (The Aerosol Society, UK).
Michelle Dawson Biography
A qualified pharmacist, after completing her PhD from University of Cardiff in 1997 on the re-formulation of MDIs in novel hydrofluoroalkanes, Michelle started her industrial career developing dry powder inhalers at Novartis Horsham Research Centre (UK). She moved to GlaxoSmithKline R&D where, between 1999 and 2020, she led the formulation development of a number of dry powder inhaler products, from Phase 2b to launch and post launch commitments. From Feb 2020, she has been Director of Formulation Development at Pharmaron UK. She has significant experience in both formulation and process development to QbD principles, technology transfer and regulatory interaction, and applies her technical acumen and experience in leading scientific understanding initiatives and strategy.
