Federico Lavorini is Professor and Consultant in Respiratory Medicine at the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine, Careggi University Hospital, Florence, Italy. He qualified in Medicine at the University of Florence (1991), and has Specialist Certification in Respiratory Medicine (1996). He also undertook a Ph-D. board certified in Applied Pathophysiology (2000). He has published 80 full papers (mean impact factor 4.8, H-index 19). He has made invited lectures within the pharmaceutical industry, at conferences (ERS, ATS, BTS ISAM meetings) and at academic institutions. His research interests are control of breathing in health and disease, defense mechanisms of the airways and inhalation devices for delivering aerosol medications. At the presen,t he is a member of the Aerosol Drug Management Improvement Team (ADMIT), an european consortium of respiratory physician with special interests in aerosol medicine. He is also member of the Respiratory Effectiveness Group (REG), an investigator-led, social enterprise research initiatve. Fedeico Lavorini is Associate Editor of the Clinical Respiratory Journal and board member of the Journal of Aerosol Medicine and Pulmonary Drug Delivery
